Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Your first-place Corpus Christi Rayz return home for two games this weekend as they begin the second half of their CHL season. Tickets are available at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations for Friday night’s Rivalry Game with the Laredo Bucks and Sunday afternoon’s Whataburger / Caller-Times Family Day game versus the Colorado Eagles. Call the Rayz for more information at (361)814-PUCK.

The 2005 CHL All-Star Game and festivities were held in Laredo earlier this week and the Rayz made quite an impression on the rest of the league. The trio of All-Stars from Corpus Christi – Jason Baird, Greg Bullock and Bernie John – combined for 14 points in Wednesday night’s All-Star Game and Baird was named the Southern Conference’s Most Valuable Player, scoring three goals and adding three assists. It was Baird’s second consecutive All-Star Game hat trick and MVP award. The five goals from Rayz players were part of a record breaking night featuring a CHL All-Star Game high of 27 combined goals in the game. The Northern Conference edged the Southern Conference 14-13 in a shootout after the South made a four-goal comeback in the third period.

With the All-Star game behind them, the Rayz now look towards a big weekend of action against three of the top teams in the league. The Rayz begin the second half of their season when they conclude a three-game homestand and host the evil Laredo Bucks on Friday Night at the American Bank Center on Men’s Night. The Rayz are going Buck Hunting, and fans are encouraged to join them. Fans will have a chance to win one of several great prizes, including a trip for two to Las Vegas, NV, for the most creative hunting costumes and “Beat the Bucks” signs. After a Saturday Night trip to San Angelo, the Rayz return home Sunday afternoon at 5:00pm for Whataburger / Caller-Times Family Day (kids 12 and under admitted FREE with a full paying adult) when they host the Colorado Eagles for the only time this season.
