Penguins Assign Thompson to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Paul Thompson has been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Thompson has recorded three goals, four assists and six penalty minutes in 20 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. A 23-year old rookie out of Methuen, MA, Thompson appeared in six games last year with the Penguins following his senior year at the University of New Hampshire and chipped in three points (1g-2a).

Thompson was named Hockey East's Player of the Year for 2010-11, leading the conference in points (52) and goals (28) and ranking ninth in assists (24). He finished his four-year career with the Wildcats having totaled 55 goals and 57 assists for 112 points in 148 contests.
