Senators Acquire Kyle Turris from Phoenix

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has acquired centre Kyle Turris from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenceman David Rundblad and a second round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Turris, 22, established career highs in games (65), goals (11), assists (14) and points (25) with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2010-11. He has recorded four penalty minutes in six games this season.

A native of Burnaby, B.C., Turris has skated in 137 career NHL contests scoring 19 goals while adding 27 assists and 43 penalty minutes. He was selected with the third overall pick by Phoenix in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Rundblad, who made his NHL debut with the Senators in the team's season-opening game on Oct. 7 at Detroit, was acquired by Ottawa from the St. Louis Blues on June 25, 2010. In 24 career NHL games (all with the Senators), he registered one goal and three assists.
