Denver Cutthroats Elect Dormancy for 2014-15 Season

August 20, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

PHOENIX, AZ (August 20, 2014) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the Denver Cutthroats have suspended operations, effective immediately, and will not compete in the 2014-15 season. The team will look to secure additional investors with the hope of returning for the 2015-16 campaign.

Any players signed to contracts for Denver for the upcoming season will become free agents immediately.

"We feel the Denver market remains a strong, viable area for minor league hockey, and has an ownership group that is passionate about making it work," said Steve Ryan, CHL Commissioner. "We are confident that with time, they will return to the ice and re-establish themselves in the community for the years ahead. The League would like to thank the Denver Cutthroats ownership, team management and their loyal fans for their support, dedication and enthusiasm."

The 2014-15 playing schedule is being revised and will be released in the coming days.
