Wings Return Mrazek, Coreau to Toledo

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned goaltender Petr Mrazek to the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned goaltender Jared Coreau from the Griffins to the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.

This season, Mrazek, 22, owns a 1-1-0 record, a 2.00 goals against average and a 0.907 save percentage in two games with Grand Rapids. Last season, he ranked second among AHL goaltenders with a 2.10 GAA and posted a 22-9-1 record through 32 games, earning him a spot on the AHL's Second All-Star Team.

Detroit's fifth choice (141st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Mrazek was re-signed by the Red Wings on July 1 to a one-year contract extension for the 2015-16 season. A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek made nine appearances with Detroit during his 2013-14 campaign and produced a 2-4-0 record, a 1.74 GAA and two shutouts.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Coreau suited up in five games for Grand Rapids during 2013-14, his first professional season, and posted a 0-4-0 record, a 4.39 GAA and a 0.873 save percentage. Coreau, 22, also appeared between the pipes in 20 games with Toledo last season, registering a 1-12-6 record, a 4.03 GAA and 0.879 save percentage.

After winning three consecutive road games, the Griffins will return to Van Andel Arena to take on the Lake Erie Monsters this Friday at 7 p.m.
